Coronavirus (COVID-19) - Latest update

9th September 2020

The health and wellbeing of all our customers is our absolute priority at SIV

Following the latest government update & the move into the Stay Alert stage our golf courses are now open - click here for further information on the opening of our golf courses.

The Arena remains closed for all public events but is working closely with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals on a number of initiatives allowing the venue to play a small but important role within the Sheffield community - further details on the Arena's role can be found hereAs part of the on-going Covid-19 pandemic, there is no prospect of any of our indoor entertainment venues being able to re-open until the Government gives the go ahead for mass gatherings to take place.

Very regrettably, we have this week (6th July 2020) begun consulting with staff on the possible need to make redundancies in order to reduce the operating costs for our venues.

We can confirm categorically that there is no plan for the permanent closure of the FlyDSA Arena.

Sheffield City Trust is continuing to work closely with Sheffield City Council during this difficult time to ensure that there is a sustainable future for the city’s leisure and entertainment venues; with welcome financial subsidy to Sheffield City Trust during this difficult period.

We are working with the industry and event organisers and promoters to plan for a very exciting future and look forward to welcoming you back to the FlyDSA Arena as soon as possible.

Health & Wellbeing is at the very heart of our organisation and we are committed to ensuring that we reduce the risk of Coronavirus
for all our customers to an absolute minimum.

We’re now pleased to confirm that we plan to begin our phased reopening of our leisure centres from Tuesday 25th August.

Like all sectors, we’ve been hugely affected by coronavirus. Across the country, community facilities such as swimming pools, sports centres and libraries are on the brink of permanent closure because of the financial impact of COVID-19 closures.

Since closing our venues, we’ve been working closely with Sheffield City Council to agree a phased programme of re-opening and confirm a programme of support across all Council-owned venues, without which, none of our facilities would have been financially viable to open.

The venues that we will be reopening in the first wave can be seen below:

Concord Sports Centre
EISS (English Institute of Sport Sheffield)
Hillsborough Leisure Centre
Springs Leisure Centre
Westfield Sports Centre
iceSheffield (once UK Government guidance allows)
Heeley Pool & Gym (Private Hire Only)

We understand that the past few weeks have been frustrating for you, our customers, but it was crucial for us to get this right. Operationally we have been prepared and our venues ready to open, but our reopening plan needed to get the right facility mix to serve our customers, but also be financially viable for us and the council.

We also appreciate that there will be some disappointment regarding Ponds Forge not being on the first phase of reopening. We have no plans to close down Ponds Forge permanently and will continue to closely monitor the situation regarding large-scale events and look to reopen as soon as is practical and reasonable to do so.

All customers will receive further details of our reopening over the next few days. For those customers who will be affected by our phased reopening we will be in touch detailing the options available to you.

Should you have any questions about your tickets or the show you are attending here at the Arena there is further information below with more information in our FAQ’s - this page will be updated as soon as anything changes so please keep checking back.

The Arena is an authorised ticket agent and a member of The Society of Ticket Agents & Retailer STAR should any of our shows cancel or be rescheduled we will refund ticket money and any pre-booked parking. If you booked tickets through another authorised agent they will also refund ticket money, please check with the retailer you booked with for their procedures. This refund policy is now more important then ever and why it is crucial to protect yourself and your ticket money and why we only recommend you only ever book with authorised retailers - if a show is cancelled you will get your money back on tickets booked through these retailers.

If you booked tickets with the Arena and your event is cancelled:
- You don't need to do anything all ticket, booking fees & any pre-paid parking money will be automatically refunded to the card on which you purchased your tickets with.

If you booked tickets with the Arena and your event is rescheduled:
- If you still wish to attend the new date simply turn up and your tickets will be valid and you don't need to do anything. Should you be unable to attend the rescheduled show you can either email stating your booking reference number & your latest contact details and the Arena Box Office can start the refund process on your behalf & contact you if there are any issues. Alternatively you can refund your own booking which will instanlty give you a ticket voucher back to your account redeemable against any future TM booking for shows at the Arena or Sheffield City Hall - click here for further details.

We are preparing for a new future and putting plans in place so that when we all return to live entertainment it is as safe as we can possibly make it for everyone attending and working in our venues.

Part of this process is looking at how we deliver tickets and reducing the number of points of contact between the venue and customers in the distribution and collection of tickets and how they are used to enter and move around the building so from June 2020 all tickets purchased online from the Arena web site will only be available on mobile phone - click here for full story.

If your question is not answered in the FAQ's above or you have any other question then you can email the Arena Box Office at who will try to assist. In line with the latest government advice and for the safety of our employees our offices and call lines are closed and we can only accept email correspondence - as such we ask that you only contact us if absolutely necessary and thank you for your patience during this very busy time - we will get back to you.
